The Sanam Tandoori, in Callendar Road, is a traditional destination for those looking to enjoy an amazing curry meal on Hogmanay or New Year’s Day and people – who have already had restrictions placed upon their festive celebrations due to the coronavirus – were dealt another blow when the restaurant announced the bad news on social media.
However, in an update on the situation last night, a Sanam spokesperson said that after testing all staff and the premises undergoing a deep clean, they will be opening for takeaway today at 4pm.

“We have been following the guidelines set out and have been working with relevant agencies to ensure we can relay the right information.
“We are glad to announce we will be opening on (New Year's Day) at 4pm. This was decided after getting all our staff tested and after an intense deep clean by our cleaning staff. All staff that will be back at work have tested negative. We will be working with a skeleton crew in the meantime so order times may be longer than usual. We will be in touch with all people with pre-orders so that we can fulfill those. Also in the meantime it will be takeaway or phone/app collections only.
“From the initial findings the good news is that the incident wasn't work related and no other staff are showing symptoms. The member of staff infected is isolating and following NHS guidelines.”
