Falkirk Kelpies tribute to NHS workers

The news was delivered to Falkirk East MSP Angus MacDonald by Scottish Canals and
Falkirk Community Trust, after he asked that Thursday’s blue tribute should be continued
indefinitely until the virus threat is lifted.

Hide AdThe iconic structures have been lit in many colours over the years to suit special causes and
occasions, but it’s hoped the blue light will send the continuing message that health workers
are battling night and day to save lives.
Thursday night’s tribute aimed to thank NHS and social care workers, and at the same time
many across the UK clapped and cheered in a vocal show of support at 8pm.

Hide AdThe blue beacon will now be retained as a reminder of the work carried out by doctors,
nurses, carers, GPs, pharmacists, ambulance crews and other NHS staff during the
emergency.
Angus MacDonald said: “This welcome move coincides with the heartening solidarity shown
to our NHS staff on Thursday evening, when residents across Scotland stood on their
