THE LINLITHGOW 10K will be hitting the streets again this September for the 20th time after the popular event was pulled last year.
There was major disappointment among local residents, and the wider athletic community, when the 2011 Linlithgow 10K was cancelled after it was plagued by admin delays, grant cuts and extra costs.
But after discussion with police and West Lothian Council, Linlithgow Athletics Club have put the local 10K back on the running calendar for Sunday, September 30.
A LAC spokesman said: “For many years, the event has held a prominent place within the running calendar and has proved popular with both fun runners and serious athletes alike.
“It has become the norm for the race to sell out well in advance of the scheduled date.”
Local business leaders are supporting the event and temporary road closures will be in place to ensure maximum safety for all competitors.
The race will start next to the old Sheriff Court building in the High Street at 2.30pm.
Following tradition, a junior fun run will also be held on the day for youngsters. Online entries for the 10k are now open via Entry Central at www.entrycentral.com/ index.php?raceID=101641
There will be no entries available on the day for the 10k.
However, entries for the junior fun run will be taken on the day at race headquarters in the Burgh Halls. Entry forms will also be available from local schools and sports clubs.
