THE World Shakespeare Festival 2012 comes to Bo’ness and Linlithgow later this month, when the Barony Players and Linlithgow Players combine to perform The Winter’s Tale.

A year in the making, this local version of the rich and powerful tragi-comedy is part of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Open Stages project, a unique collaboration between professional and amateur theatres.

Cast and crew have enjoyed exciting workshops organised by The Conservatoire of Scotland and the Scottish Community Drama Society, and run by the RSC and the National Theatre of Scotland.

Wendy Turner and Judy Barker, chairwomen of the Barony and Linlithgow Players, were inspired to bring Shakespeare to life for everyone via high-quality piece of theatre The Winter’s Tale.

The play was previously performed by the RSC in its 2010-11 season, touring to New York.

Support your local cast at Linlithgow Academy on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 24 and 25, and at the Barony Theatre, Bo’ness, on Friday and Saturday, April 27 and 28.

Performances start at 7.30pm; tickets priced £8/£6 can be booked now on 01506 829197.
