Cockleroy have it taped

LINLITHGOW folk duo Cockleroy have just put the finishing touches to a new CD which is now on sale.

Recorded at Cairnpapple Music, Bathgate, by Brian Brownhill, the 12-track disc includes some songs well-known to Black Bitches - The Roke for example to name just one - but it also includes several new songs written by Cockleroy members Neil Macdonald and Bob Proudfoot.

The songs on the CD, entitled ‘‘Within These Palace Walls’’, are sure to be performed live in coming days and months as the tunesome twosome have a string of live engagements lined up between now and the summer.

Cockleroy evolved from a previous musical team the Black Bitch Band which was formed for an exchange to trip to Russia some years ago and Neil and Bob (both 67) continue that link with foreign lands through regular trips to France and Germany through the town’s twinning programmes.

Neil, a former PE teacher at Falkirk High School, said: ‘‘We’re pretty pleased with the new CD.

‘‘Alll through the recording and production process you’re listening with a very crictical ear but once it’s out there you can here it for what it is and I think there are some very good songs on it.

‘‘Within These Palace Walls’’ is available now from Wilson’s Newsagents at The Cross price £7.
