Below is a detail from a postcard from 1917 showing the Forth Bridge from the Dalmeny approach.

The card is obviously one of a series and the caption on the reverse tells us it was the result of: ‘‘The labour of 5000 men for seven years, day and night, and which cost over £3,500,000 and used 51,000 tons of of steel...’’
