A memorial match, held in the memory of Bo’ness man Douglas Snedden, has raised £600 for charity.
The Douglas Snedden Memorial Trophy match, between Bo’ness United and Bo’ness Cadora, was held last Saturday (20th) with United running out 3-0 winners.
But the result wasn’t important, the coming together of a community to remember such a popular man will be what this day is remembered for.
Dean McLean, manager of Bo’ness Cadora, who organised the event said: “It was great to see such a big turnout for Dougie. He was so important to the town of Bo’ness.
“We would like this to become a annual event, and it seems like Bo’ness United are also keen to keep it going. We would like to thank Bo’ness United and wish them every success for the season ahead.”
The money raised will now go to the Chest, Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Dougie’s wife Alison said: “I had a great day, it was such a fitting tribute. I would like to thank everyone for their support, the family are so grateful.”
