FIRE: Provost Stewart and Councillor Murray raised the fire alarm when they noticed that the roof of a fancy goods shop was ablaze. The incident occurred as the pair were walking down South Street, Bo’ness. Luckily,, someone managed to subdue the fire with a few buckefuls of water before the brigade arrived with the hose.

CURIOUS ANIMAL: A cat belonging to Mr Geo Steel, Lowport, killed a three-legged weasel at that part of town. The Gazette called the animal a “freak of nature” to be added to the “local museum of curiosities”.
