A LOCAL charity was given a boost when an 11-year-old girl chose to donate her locks.
Amber Smith went to Salon Ian in Falkirk for a cut with a difference, as her hair cuttings will go towards a real hair wig for a cancer patient.
One of the founders of Linlithgow-based charity Bosom Buds of Scotland, Mags Parsons-Fenwick was delighted to have Amber Smith helping out.
She said: “Amber knows it’s not just old people who get cancer. It’s a very young age to be volunteering and it’s very kind of her to help out.”
Mags also thanked Salon Ian in Falkirk who donated their time free of charge.
Bosom Buds donate funds to St John’s Hospital oncology unit, cancer research and the supply of real hair wigs. They also provide mastectomy bras, arrange pamper days, post-treatment exercise and meditation classes. Since starting in 2009, Bosom Buds has raised £129,000.
