AN ENDANGERED wolf helped one local pupil get his artwork into the European Parliament’s 2013 calendar.

Cal Young (11) at St Joseph’s Primary, Linlithgow, entered a competition, along with the rest of the upper school and over 1,100 entries from 54 schools across Scotland, in a bid get his drawing of a Romanian wolf into the Scottish edition of the calendar.

P7 teacher Laura Travers said: “Cal researched endangered European animals for this competition and chose the Romanian wolf to draw. Cal prepared a few drafts before he was happy with his final version. He is a bit of a perfectionist! When he found out he was very surprised but so pleased to have won.”

Cal’s drawing is now included in the Scottish edition of the European Parliament’s calendar after it was chosen by a judging panel made up of Scotland’s six MEPs.
