TOWN piper Ross Miller became a European champion in Belfast last month with Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band.

Ross (17) of Avontoun Park in Linlithgow competed with other band members at the European Championships on the Stormont Estate in his first season in the Grade 1 Band, the biggest Boghall band to take to the field with 23 pipers altogether.

Dad Glenn Miller said: “Despite the heavens opening just as the band were standing on the line about to perform, they produced their best performance of the season.”

Their rousing display led to the band picking up both the Grade 1 European Band and Drumming titles. It put the band in a great position for this week, when they held their “Forte” concert in Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Wednesday, and take part in the World Champ-ionships at Glasgow Green
tomorrow (Saturday).
