Magnificent weather and a good turn-out ensured last weekend’s jousting tournament at Linlithgow Palace was a great success according to Historic Scotland, who organised the event.
A spokeswoman for the agency said that they were very pleased with the attendance on Saturday, and recorded even more visitors on Sunday.
“It was a great family day out and everybody enjoyed themselves. We were very keen to make this a family-friendly event and encouraged children to dress up in period costume and had over 7000 visitors coming to see the spectacular jousting and enjoy all the extra activities. These included a working forge, jugglers, how to dress a knight ready for battle, how to fashion a lethal medieval weapon and how a noble lady of the time would dress.”
The event is being repeated this Saturday and Sunday and the organisers are hoping for similar weather and an even greater attendance.
