TWO lucky ladies are hoping to make the big time after landing parts in Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre Christmas production.
Alexandra Simpson and Francesca Thomson have been picked to play two of the King of Siam’s children in Rodger’s and Hammerstein’s ‘The King and I’ from December 14 - January 7.
The excited twosome, both 13 and in S2 at Linlithgow Academy, are the only youngsters from West Lothian to be chosen out of the 182 who auditioned.
Alexandra, who lives at Beechwood and goes to the Marion Sweeney School of Dance in Linlithgow said: “I was over the moon to get the part. We did the Glee Experience at the Edinburgh Playhouse recently and although we didn’t get in, it was good to get experience of going for auditions. My ambition is to be on stage every night.”
Friend Franscesca lives at Kingscavil goes to the Lyceum Youth Theatre Group in Edinburgh, and she added: “We are very excited. There are 32 kids altogether playing the King’s children and we will be doing 15 shows over Christmas, one day on and one day off.’’
