musical teacher for tots Iona McNab has been nominated for a national award.

Iona of Avontoun Park holds her Musical Steps classes for the under-fives at Queen Margaret Hall in Linlithgow, and uses fun and games to introduce babies and toddlers to music. She has been running the classes for the past five years and before that she was a professional musician.

And this year for the first time Iona has been nominated for the most outstanding class leader for under fives in Scotland and Northern Ireland in the What’s On 4 Little Ones Awards. The awards recognise companies, organisations and individuals providing the very best activities for children across the UK.

Iona said: “This nomination is quite a big thing - I’m up against the big boys. Votes are cast so that you are nominated - it’s like the Oscars! On March 29 I’ll find out if I’ve made it to the final. I only found out a few days ago and it’s a really big deal.”

Musical Steps also got through to the final stages of the competition and has been nominated in the best national activity for under fives.

The awards will be held in London on June 15 and are sponsored by Konfidence and Prima magazine.
