A SPECIAL event this month praised the hard work of the local Children’s Panel.
West Lothian Provost Tom Kerr presented certificates to new panel members who had completed their training and to those who have done 10 years service, at Howden Park Centre in Livingston.
Provost Kerr said: “It is a great pleasure to welcome new panel members to the West Lothian hearing system and to acknowledge the work and commitment of our long standing panel members.
“Children Panel members are all volunteers and contribute to the continuing success of a system which is designed to protect the welfare of children and to ensure a safe environment where children can develop to their fullest potential.”
The Children’s Panel has operated in Scotland for more than 40 years, and the 84 members in West Lothian attended 1205 hearings in 2012/13.
