NEW equipment is in store for local pupils through the Tesco for Schools and Clubs scheme.
The nationwide drive allows UK schools and clubs to redeem vouchers from Tesco purchases for all sorts of fun items, from iMacs to drum kits, and garden tools to tennis racquets.
Last Friday, Linlithgow MSP Fiona Hyslop dropped into the Regent Centre Tesco with pupils from Linlithgow Bridge, Donaldson’s and St Joseph’s Primary. The kids picked up a goody box filled with stationery and outdoor toys as a thank you for participating in this year’s scheme, where they will receive equipment chosen by their school from their voucher collection.
Last year the programme provided £18,272 worth of equipment to schools in the Linlithgow area, after shoppers collected 605,744 vouchers, benefitting 58 schools and clubs.
Jim Arnott, Tesco store manager, said: “Tesco for Schools and Clubs is a scheme which my team are proud to be part of. Thousands of customers have been collecting vouchers to help their local schools and clubs get new equipment showing what can happen when a whole community gets involved.”
Over 40,000 schools and clubs in the UK have signed up to take part in the programme, now in its 21st year.
