ON THE week that Titanic set sail 100 years ago, one Linlithgow girl has raised over £600 for the RNLI.

Lucy Richards (19), a former head girl at Linlithgow Academy, organised the fundraiser with classmates to mark the anniversary on the Tall Ship in Glasgow, as part of her entertainment and events management course at Glasgow Caledonian University, where she is in second year. The event featured Irish dancers, sketch artists, a string quartet, photographers and a raffle. Lucy, of Preston Road, said: “We raised £640 for the Royal National Lifeboat Institute and were only given £50 from our university to start the event.”

She also thanked all those who had contributed to the event and its success. Pictured with Lucy on the far right are her classmates (l-r) Katherine Coll, Elza Oleinika, Tammy Robinson and Katherine Taylor.
