DOZENS of local pets will be competing to be crowned top dog at Crufts next month.

Last year Queensferry retriever Jet, owned by Jim Irvine and Iain Ross, took the overall Best in Show title.

The internationally renowned event will make its appearance at the NEC Birmingham between March 8 and 11, where dogs will be parading in the show, televised on ‘More4’.

Of over 21,000 dogs taking part from across the UK and overseas, several will be representing the local area.

A boxer from Bo’ness, a cocker spaniel from Linlithgow, and a Bernese mountain dog from South Queens-ferry, are among this year’s hopefuls.

All will compete in their own individual categories for glory, and will hope to remain in contention for the top spot when the winner is revealed at 4pm on Sunday. We’ll bring you the local results in the Journal and Gazette on Friday, March 16.
