A LOCAL sports project has gained a coveted mark of excellence from the London 2012 Olympics.

The Linlithgow Games 2012 project, launched in October, involves all schools across the Linlithgow area, in an Olympic extravaganza tying in with next year’s national games. Last week the ambitious project - the brainchild of local PE specialist Lesley Malone - succeeded in receiving sought-after recognition from the official London 2012 Inspire Programme, which will link 2000 outstanding projects countrywide directly to London 2012.

Lesley said: “We are all absolutely thrilled to achieve the Inspire Mark, which is official recognition of all our hard work and creative ideas. Hopefully the success of achieving this will encourage greater sport participation within schools, boost our profile nationwide, provide opportunities, and encourage businesses to support local school children.”
