DELICIOUS steak pies from Thomas Burns and Son in Bo'ness have won a gold award in the Scottish Butchers Traditional Steak Pie Competition.

Manager Yvonne Tully, who prepared and cooked the winning entry, and owner Michael Burns are delighted...but won't be revealing the recipe!

Said Yvonne: "We can't give the secret away!

"It's a traditional recipe, the same we've had for years and years.
"It's just quality beef that makes it so good."

A favourite with customers, the pies have been entered twice in the competition, both times tickling the judges' tastebuds and scooping a gold award.

"I'm so pleased, and so's Michael, all the staff are," added Yvonne.

"They're all proud of this achievement."

80 butchers nationwide entered the Scottish Federation of Meat Trades Associations competition.

President Stuart Christie said: "The evaluation is held to highlight one of Scotland's favourite dishes and to identify butchers whose steak pies are worthy of recognition."
