Robert Louis Stevenson famously wrote part of Kidnapped from a room in South Queensferry’s Hawes Inn (pictured).

It’s where he drew inspiration from all the maritime activity on the Forth, and let his astonishing imagination wander.

Now there’s a chance to find out more about the author at a special evening at the Inn on November 11, when the man himself is expected to inadvertently appear in the bar to give a reading from his “latest book” (it first appeared in 1868).
