A LINLITHGOW mum raced through monsoon conditions to reach her £1000 target for charity.
Laura Johnston recently completed the Rock ‘n’ Roll Edinburgh half-marathon in aid of Cancer Research UK.
The 41-year-old, from Kettil’stoun Mains, braved the horrific weather in her quest to raise a four-figure sum and beat her own projected finishing time by an incredible 12 minutes, despite it being her first 13 mile race.
Now the beauty therapy lecturer at West Lothian College aims to cap it all off by surpassing her £1000 aim, and thanked everyone for donating. Laura chose Cancer Research in memory of Bill Wylie, the father of her life-long friend Barbara. Bill, who had been a long-term servant of Linlithgow Rugby Club, lost a seven-year fight with cancer in October last year. Laura’s mother-in-law, Audrey Johnston, has also faced a recent battle with breast cancer, and Laura was cheered on by husband Colin, daughter Hannah (16) and son Callum (15).
