Hundreds of daredevils from all over Scotland and beyond gathered at South Queensferry last week for the Ultimate Abseil off the Forth Bridge.

The 600 participants raised an incredible £120,000 in the rope-dangling, gravity defying charity abseil for Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland.

CHSS director of fundraising Penelope Blackwell said: “We had a fantastic day. The amount raised is absolutely phenomenal and with more money coming in the total could still rise.

“This fantastic amount will help thousands of people around Scotland who are living with chest, heart and stroke illness to enjoy a better quality of life.

“Our supporters who took part were amazing, I’d like to thank them all. Thank you also to Network Rail and Balfour Beatty for their kind permission and incredible support. Finally, thank you to the Haws Inn for their great hospitality.”

The next Ultimate Abseil off the Forth Bridge is on Sunday, October 9. For more information and to register, visit www.abseil.scot or phone 0300 1212 999.
