Appeal for Armadale knife threat robber

Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses following a knifepoint robbery at a West Lothian newsagent.

The incident happened around 9.45pm on Monday at the RS McColl store in West Main Street, Armadale.

A man entered the shop and presented a knife to the two female members of staff working inside before demanding cash.

He then made off from the premises onto Academy Street with a three-figure sum of cash before being lost to sight on George Street.

Detectives are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.

The suspect is described as white, early 30s, around 6ft tall with a slim to medium build and light-coloured eyebrows.

He was wearing a black jacket with the hood up an a white logo on the back of the collar, black jogging bottoms with a white logo on the left thigh, white trainers with a blue pattern, white gloves, a red and black rucksack and a black scarf covering his face.

A police spokesman said: “The women who were working within the store were left very upset and shaken by this incident and we are carrying out local enquiries to trace the man responsible.

“We have a very detailed description of the suspect and are keen to hear from anyone who can assist us in identifying him.

“If you were in or around West Main Street yesterday evening and remember seeing anything suspicious or have information relevant to this investigation then we would ask you to contact police immediately.”
