A BURST water main has flooded houses in a quiet Bathgate street and left dozens with no water supply overnight.
The water main in Leyland Road, in the Wester Inch estate, blew around 2am and stunned residents saw water pouring into their homes, causing hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of damage..
Today (Tuesday) four primary schools - Pinewood School, Blackburn Primary School, Murrayfield Primary School and Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School - were closed due to a lack of water.
ScottishWater’s flood assessor visited the scene within hours, and it is understood nine homes have suffered internal damage as a result of the flood. A number of cars are also badly damaged.
The water company has managed to re-route water supplies to restore the normal water supply to homes.
A ScottishWater spokesman apologised to customers affected by the incident.
Parents will be informed by group call if the schools will not be open as normal again tomorrow (Wednesday).
Our slideshow of pictures shows the damage caused in the street. The full story will be in this week’s Herald and Post.
