Bo’ness man Robert Boyd enjoyed a day at Buckingham Palace last week to pick up his MBE medal.
Robert, of Gauze Road, received his award from Prince Charles for his services to the pipeline industry and to the community.
Wife Margaret accompanied him and afterwards, he said: “I am delighted. It was a great day. Prince Charles chatted to me for a short time about my work - it was all over very quickly.
“I would just like to thank everyone for their support and for all the nice cards and well wishes I received.
The Journal and Gazette told in June how Robert was named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
He operated his company, EDC Pipework Services for more than 20 years in Throsk, near Stirling. At its peak it employed nearly 100 people in skilled jobs, including workers from Bo’ness.
The firm led many large projects at the Grangemouth Refinery and BP Chemicals and beyond and supplied specialist equipment to big companies in the USA and UK.
