The final of the WLBA Rosebery Cup is a great occasion in the Linlithgowshire sporting calendar and traditionally staged on the green of the County president making it a highlight of his year in office - and the 2013 honour came the way of Queensferry bowler Alan Brown.

Alan had the privilege of handing over the grand old trophy to Kirkliston Bowling Club’s Jim Gray at the weekend after the ‘‘Cheesetown Boys’’ took the venerable title for the 22nd time following a commanding 26-shot victory over fellow finalists Glenmavis.

The 21 end final – up from 17 ends in previous rounds- is a marathon challenge for both teams and it may be that the extra stamina and concentration demanded by the step up favoured the more experienced Kirkliston side.
