Up to 1000 women are expected to raise thousands of pounds when they take part in Sunday’s Race for Life event at Hopetoun House.

But also taking part will be five local boys who are hoping to raise over £2000 for the Cancer Research UK charity.

The youngsters, all P5 pupils at Echline Primary School, have been friends since nursery school and decided they wanted to take part after some of their mums chose to sign up.

The boys, Scott Forsyth, Adam Scott, Liam Burke, Ben Robertson and Liam Glanville have so far raised around £1450 which is an amazing feat for the group of nine year-olds.

But thanks to Gift Aid, the total will increase to more than £1700.

Billy Scott, Adam’s father said: ‘‘The boys are really looking forward to it and will wear pink T-shirts on the day.
