Work to refurbish the footpaths on the Forth Road Bridge starts tomorrow (Monday, October 3) and continues through to Thursday.

During this period the East footpath will be closed to the public from around 9.30am until 4.30pm each day, when the West footpath will be open instead.

Cyclists wishing to avoid the steps to the West footpath may call Bridge Control on 0131 319 3083 to arrange a lift.

The work involves the removal and reinstatement of white lines and other road markings, and the installation of improved signage.

Bridge authorities say they are grateful to cyclists and pedestrians for their patience and understanding during these works.

In the event of high winds the usual restrictions will apply.
