EMERGENCY repairs on the Forth Road Bridge were completed as planned last weekend with little or no problems.
Delays were minimal as drivers took heed of advice to delay their journeys or use public transport if at all possible.
Barry Colford, chief engineer and bridgemaster, said: “Thanks to fair weather and a great effort from the team we were able to get the work completed and lift the restrictions an hour earlier than planned on Sunday.
“I’m pleased that no afternoon or weekday restrictions will be required on this occasion, however more weekend restrictions will be required in two weeks’ time and the work will once again be weather dependent.
“I’d like to thank the public for following our advice to adjust their travel plans around these essential works. This meant that delays were kept to a minimum for those who could not change their plans.”
Traffic on the bridge will again be restricted to a single lane in each direction between 3am and midday tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday, April 1.
