FUNDING for next year’s Forth Bridges Festival in Queensferry received a further cash boost this week thanks to City of Edinburgh Council.

The council’s culture and leisure committee has pumped £50,000 into the project, planned for September 2014.

The 50th anniversary celebrations, co-ordinated by Queensferry Ambition and other partners has now secured £130,000 for the festival, with additional funding from EventScotland (£60,000) and Fife Council (£20,000).

Stephanie Tindall, of local business Indigo Project, which is marketing and fundraising for the festival said: “It is really good to get the support of the city council behind us. The economic impact of the festival on the area will be immense.”

As well as trips up the Forth Road Bridge, other attractions will include a Golden Lions parachute display, a 60s style sit-down lunch on the High Street, a flotilla, and a massive parade over the bridge.
