Brother and sister win gold

It was gold all round for brother and sister Innis and Ursula Bennett at the recent Scottish Age Bands Judo championships.

The youngsters (right)who attend Springfield primary and Linlithgow Academy live in Linlithgow where they train every Tuesday at the Longcroft Halls judo club under John Buchanan, 6th Dan, a recent bronze medal winner at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The Scottish Championships, held at the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility attracted a huge number of competitors from all over Scotland.

Eight-year-old Innis had faced some tough competition before making the finals, where he eventually took gold with the highest score in Judo.

The following day, his sister, 13-year-old Ursula, a British schools’ champion, also went on to secure a gold medal.

The local club had a fantastic weekend eventually topping the medal table with a haul of 18 golds.
