Part of the former Blackness Inn may be turned into a shop after an application for change of use was granted by Falkirk Council.
The news was applauded by Blackness Community Council convener Merville Archibald. ‘‘We are delighted to see any economic activity which will benefit Blackness.
‘‘We have been without such facilities for a very long time and this application has to be welcomed,’’ he said.
The Blackness Inn closed as a licensed premises several years ago.
There has been an inn on the site for more than a hundred years, and the original building burned down in the early-mid 1950s.
