A fun day hosted by Carriden Kirk has raised over £2000.

Saturday’s event was very well attended according to the organisers who said a huge amount of time and effort had gone into the occasion.

Highlight of the day was a massive balloon launch and the person who finds the farthest travelled will win £50.

Said Mary Gilfillan: ‘‘When I worked at Deanburn Primary School we did balloon launches and the farthest travelled reached Belgium so you never know where the winner will come from and we won’t find out for a month.’’

Other events included face-painting and a bouncy castle as well as a treasure hunt.

Added Mary: ‘‘We were very pleased with the turnout for the fun day. It more than repaid the effort of staging the event and we are delighted to have raised in excess of £2000 which will be added to the fund to repair the church hall roof.’’

Saturday’s fun day was organised by the Carriden Community Association and hosted by Carriden Parish Church.
