BO’ness Amateur Operatic Society have continued their centenary celebrations with a ball at the Richmond Park Hotel.
It was an encore to the stunning musical showcase held recently at Bo’ness Town Hall and was enjoyed by current members and past stars.
President Ann English gave an address and a toast, and speaker was BOAS producer Sylvia Dow.
Entertainment was provided courtesy of local band, Frank and the Twins, and the National Operatic and Dramatic Association’s Scottish councillor Gordon Blackburn attended.
So too did Region Three NODA rep Jim Allardyce with his wife.
Asked the secret of BOAS notching up 100 years, Ann said: “Down through the ages we have all passed the baton on, to relatives and friends, as the years have gone past.”
Ann recalled one production of Carousel when 10 members of her family, including herself, were on stage!
Last month’s centenary showcase went down a storm, with the president saying: “It was fabulous, electric.
“You could feel it coming back from the audience.
“They hardly let us get a song finished and they were clapping.”
Looking to the future, the hope is performers of all generations will help ensure BOAS thrives for another cenury.
