FIREFIGHTERS in Queensferry raised over £1440 when they turned their attention to washing cars instead of dousing fires.
Members of Lothian and Borders Fire Brigade at Queensferry washed over 230 cars last Saturday to raise funds for the Firefighters Charity. As well as the firemen, volunteer help from Queensferry First Responders, Lloyds Bank, friends and family, also assisted to give the cars a clean.
The cash raised from car washes was also boosted by a tombola, sale of games and a raffle with prizes to the top of the Forth Bridge and the Forth Road Bridge on offer. The final figure raised for the charity, which cares for firefighters who have been injured or died in service, will not be known until the end of the month as raffle tickets are still on sale.
