THE ROYAL Bank of Scotland is to close its Hope Street branch on April 12, citing dwindling customer usage, but the move was this week criticised by local politicians.

Customers were sent letters last Thursday and posters are up in the branch. RBS’ agents are to market the premises - first opened in 1865 and owned outright - for sale as soon as possible.
