The children of Chernobyl said an emotional farewell to their hosts in Linlithgow at a special party in Longcroft Hall recently, organised by Falkirk and Linlithgow Ladies Circle.

Whilst sad to say goodbye to their friends in Scotland, the children took home a bounty of happy memories of their visit to Linlithgow.

The young people of
Chernobyl who have been
affected by the aftermath of the 1986 disaster made regular visits to Linlithgow and the group of 20 children with their teacher and translator had a successful trip.

During their month-long visit, they learned about life in Scotland, visit places of interest and enjoy many activities including learning Scottish country dancing with their hosts, thanks to Linlithgow Country Dance Club.

Organiser April Price said of the group: “The most
important part of the exercise is strengthening friendships.”

Falkirk and Linlithgow
Ladies Circle is a branch of a national friendship organisation that brings ladies together for making friends and organising social events and outings as well as getting involved with local charities and other organisations.

April added: “The Linlithgow branch had been floundering somewhat and needed a new focus. So, it’s now a reinvigorated group that meets on the second and fourth Monday of every month.”

She added: “We don’t have a regular meeting place but, if anyone wants to get involved they can find us on our
Facebook page or go to www.ladiescircle.co.uk”
