Churches in and around the Journal and Gazette circulation area could be in line for a cash boost.

If you are involved with a project which works with a Church of Scotland congregation you may be eligible to apply for a Go For It grant of around £15,000 per year.

Around £500,000 is available from the church for projects which are aimed at making a difference in their community, in response to locally identified needs. Hurry – you only have until 5pm on Friday, September 26, to complete the two stage process.

Strong applications will provide good evidence of meeting at least two of the five funding criteria and be really clear about the difference they want to make.

Main grants offer core funding, awarding £45,000 over a three year period. If a project can provide evidence that they are working with people in extreme poverty, the total award can rise to a maximum of £90,000 over three years.

Projects which have previously received a main grant can then apply for a continuation grant, which offers further funding at a maximum of £20,000 over two years.

‘‘Go For It’’ funds a wide variety of creative initiatives tackling a number of different needs.

Projects work with many different age groups and vary from decreasing isolation among the elderly to increasing confidence among teenagers.
