On September 14 members of South Queensferry Parish Church and Dalmeny Parish Church met on the Forth Road Bridge footpath mid-span with members of North Queensferry Parish Church and Inverkeithing Parish Church.

There was an exchange of gifts and a prayer said by the Rev. David Cameron and the Rev. Colin Alston to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the road bridge.

A spokesman for the group said: “We wanted to re-create north meets south when, 50 years ago, the churches held a joint service on board one of the last ferries when the road bridge was completed.”

Everyone adjourned to North Queensferry Parish Church for tea and cakes.

The churches thank Forth Estuary Transport Authority for their help and advice in making the event possible.
