With just two weeks to go until South Queensferry’s Race for Life, organisers are encouraging local women to make a last-minute dash to enter.
Race for Life, a female-only 5K/10K event run by Cancer Research UK, is coming to the stunning grounds of Hopetoun House on Sunday, May 15.
Entries for the fundraiser close on Thursday, May 12 at midnight so mums, daughters, grannies, sisters, friends and workmates who want to join in are being encouraged to sign up now.
Anna Thompson, event manager for Race for Life at Hopetoun House, said: “We are absolutely thrilled that so many women have entered Race for Life at Hopetoun House.
“But we still have places left so we’re urging anyone who has been thinking about it to commit and take action today. Taking part in Race for Life, alongside thousands of like-minded women, is incredibly motivated.
“The atmosphere at all the events is full of emotion as participants wear signs on their backs declaring their reasons for taking part. Many will be remembering loved ones lost to cancer or celebrating the lives of people dear to them who have survived.
“Race for Life events are not competitive. They are about an army of women crossing the finish line together in the fight against cancer. Whatever the distance, every step taken around the course will help bring us one step closer to the day when all cancers are cured.”
Last year, 1258 women took part in Race for Life at Hopetoun House and raised £106,952, part of a fantastic £2.3 million raised across Scotland at similar events.
