Linlithgow is the only town in West Lothian that has not produced a Miss West Lothian since the contest started in 1994.

And with only weeks before the entry deadline, the race is on to find local ladies willing to compete for the crown. So far, the only entrant from Linlithgow is business analyst Roberta Daisy Johnstone (19) of Mains Road, who can’t wait for the competition.

She said: “It’s really good fun, it’s all very friendly and you get to wear great dresses!”

The Miss West Lothian event was launched in 1994, and the first winner was Lisa Hardie, from Armadale. Since then, winners have come from all over West Lothian, with Linlithgow the only town never to produce a winner. The closing date for entrants is Tuesday, November 12.
