MIXED messages over extended drinking hours during the festive season caused confusion this week.
Last month, a statement from West Lothian Licensing Board made town centre residents dream of a quieter Christmas, as it said that there would be ‘‘no additional hours over the festive period’’.
But it meant no general policy on extended hours and licence extensions could still be applied for and considered on their individual merits.
This week board chiefs apologised for the confusion saying the first statement was meant meant as information for licence-holders. Only two pubs in the town have so far applied to extend on a handful of dates over Christmas.
