Youngsters in Queensferry got close to some exotic creatures last week when a ‘Cool Creatures’ session was staged at the town’s Rosebery Hall Community Centre.
The session last Friday saw the youngsters get the opportunity to handle a variety of small and slithery animals and reptiles.
Cool Creatures is a West Lothian based business which offers animal handling experiences for schools, groups and organisations.
The animals Calum Pennkid brought along included Blossom the skunk, a nine foot Burmese python, red footed tortoises, monitor lizards, and the children’s favourite, cuddly meerkats.
The event was the first of three summer sessions, funded by the South Queensferry and Rosebery Hall management committee, which include magicians and face painters.
A spokesperson for the Rosebery Hall management committee said: ‘‘It was a very well attended event. We had 40 children along with parents and carers in the hall.
‘‘The children absolutely loved the animals, especially the skunk, which just loved being petted.”
