Shop owners on Linlithgow High Street have feared for their properties over the last two weekends as windows have been smashed and notice boards dismantled.
Police were alerted after First Impressions hair salon on 151 High Street had their window smashed last Saturday night, only days after Detail at number 13 had a window shattered and a pair of GHD straighteners worth around £100 stolen from the display. Newsagents also reported their advertising boards were pulled off over the weekend.
Police reassured shop owners that they were examining CCTV images and still carrying out inquiries, but other hairdressers have taken precautions by moving stock out of their windows.
One shopkeeper who wanted to remain nameless said: “The last two weekends have been really bad. It’s been good in Linlithgow for a while so I hope this kind of thing hasn’t started again. Police have said they’re looking at CCTV but you can never get anyone at the police station when you call.” Anyone with information should call police on 101.
