Winchburgh residents are being urged to be vigilant after fire crews have dealt with five deliberate fires through the night in the village over the past two weeks.
Fire officers are becoming increasingly concerned as since the April 1, there have been 12 deliberate fires recorded in the area, compared to only three for the same period last year.
The most recent was the torching of a bulldozer near to the Miller Homes site at Glendevon Gate, between 4.30pm last Thursday and 7am on Saturday.
The bulldozer, parked on open ground opposite the B9080, had its fuel siphoned before it was burned out. The cab and engine bay were completely destroyed and damage is estimated to be around £200,000.
