A NEW dementia cafe opened in Linlithgow on Wednesday at the Low Port Centre.

Rev Christine Barclay of St Peter’s Church in Linlithgow led the proceedings for the cafe which is specifically for anybody with dementia and/or their carers, open on the third Wednesday of every month. As well as tea and coffee, there will be information, support and social activities organised in The Lounge at the centre.

Rev Barclay said the cafe had come about as a result of much hard work over many months by a number of people, and “an excellent example of what is possible when likeminded groups of people pool their skills, gifts, experience and commitment to making a difference in their community.”

The project has been coordinated by Linlithgow Link, and is supported by Alzheimer Scotland and Linlithgow churches.
