LINLITHGOW Town Council ruled that no one could build homes within half a mile of Linlithgow Palace without special permission.

JANET Brown, of 303 High Street, was charged 10s at the Sheriff Court for stealing three and a half stones of potatoes from a pit in a field at Clarendon Farm in Linlithgow. She had denied the charge despite 
being caught with a full carrier bag.

Bo’ness scored a notable victory against the strong-going Dundee ‘A’ side. Although they did not succeed in reversing the score of 5-0 which Dundee recorded against them a week or two ago, they robbed the Tayside club of a couple of valuable points.

FORTY enthusiastic workers of the West Lothian Industrial Association, Bo’ness Branch, resumed activities after the festive recess at a meeting on Monday night. They are confident the first County factories envisaged by West Lothian MP Tam Dalyell in his recent community-owned industry project will come to Bo’ness .

THE county roads committee decided on Monday to make a lay-by for motorists at Cockleroi. The original proposal was to construct one 10ft wide by 150 to 180ft long at an estimated cost of £170 but this was considered a waste of money in view of the numbers likely to use it.

COUNCIL tax collection in West Lothian improved for the third year according to an Accounts Commission report.

THALES pulled the plug on the former Racal factory at the top of Preston Road Road.

BO’NESS folk came out in force to show their support for an application to build 48 flats at Corbiehall. The Health and Safety Executive is opposed to the flat scheme as it is within the Forties Field gas pipeline consultation zone which has blighted a number of planning applications in the town.

POLICING in the Queensferry area is poised for major change this spring with the launch of “Operation Capital”. After a comprehensive study of policing in the city, chiefs are set to split the area into 
sectors in line with local government ward boundaries.
