A CELEBRATION of the dynamic life at St Andrew’s Church, Bo’ness was held on Monday, in the presence of a distinguished guest.
The Lord High Commissioner to the Church of Scotland’s General Assembly, Lord James Douglas Hamilton, came to Grange Terrace to mark the Reverend Albert Bogle’s installation as Moderator.
Such visits, by Her Majesty the Queen’s personal representative to the General Assembly, are rare.
He said: “The Reverend Albert Bogle is a very vibrant personality with considerable gifts of communication, through the use of high technology, music and humour.
“He will be a very popular and influential Moderator of the Church of Scotland.
“He is a Moderator worthy of the strongest support. He has a vision and the practical skills to put together plans to realise that vision in a way which can help local communities at home and abroad.”
St Andrew’s pastoral minister, Rev John Brown said: “Albert couldn’t have done what he has done without the support of his congregation, in all kinds of ways: financial support and practical participation.
“It’s quite a tribute to the input of the congregation that they have come here.”
The visiting party then met Provost Pat Reid and wider community representatives at Bo’ness Town Hall.
