Three hundred pupils, parents, carers, teachers and sponsors enjoyed an evening of glitz and entertainment at the Stellar Awards 2014.
The Awards celebrate educational excellence and include categories for academic attainment, citizenship, equality and diversity, achievement, enterprise and team work.
And this year one of the top achievements was won by local schoolgirl Sophie Davis from Linlithgow Academy, who was presented with her ‘attainment’ award by the council’s chief executive, Graham Hope.
Sophie gained the S5 Attainment Award by gaining 6 Highers all with A passes.
Entertainment was provided by Linlithgow Academy’s saxophone quintet.
Executive Councillor for Education, Lawrence Fitzpatrick, commented: “The Stellar Awards event is a highlight of the education calendar. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our pupils and students who have been recognised at this year’s awards. They are a credit to their teachers, schools, parents and carers, and themselves.”
“The Stellar Awards are fully funded and I would like to take this opportunity to thank our event sponsors Land Securities and Infrared Capital Partners for providing their support and helping to make the Awards a very special night for our pupils and students.”
Sophie said: ““I really enjoyed the evening and I felt very privileged to have been invited to such a memorable event which recognises a great variety of achievements.”
